In 2013, Fort Sanctuary took the unusual step of setting up a facility to process tea leaves in Singapore.
The idea was to show the world the phenomenal characteristics of resting and aging of the world’s finest tea leaves in Singapore.
Since then, we have been breaking boundaries with impressive specialty teas that combines the principles of traditional tea processing with a Singapore twist.

Wuyishan is the sacred birthplace of the holy grail of teas in China. Leaves harvested from tea plants in the prime growing areas in Wuyishan are acclaimed to possess enviable potential to deliver unparalleled intensity and richness in teas.
Our long and meticulous work begins with managing prestigious tea plants in Wuyishan. Upon harvesting, the precious leaves are partially processed onsite before transferring to our facility in Singapore.
At first glance, our variants of Wuyi rock-essence teas look similar to the traditional tea from Wuyishan. Afterall, the design of our processing is modelled on traditional wuyi rock-essence tea processing.
But with our new concept of actively marrying precise firings with restings of leaves, Wuyi rock-essence teas crafted in Singapore is a departure from the prevailing work by native masters in Wuyishan or anywhere else around the world. The differences are evident upon in-depth analysis.
Whether time-tested or experimental, our works in Singapore are based on fundamentals of traditional techniques using authentic pedigree leaves.
Every purist would identify the pure expression of Wuyi rock-essence specialty teas in our works.
